BDASA hosts an annual design awards event to recognise the high quality of work undertaken by Members of the association. Winners go on to compete in the National Building Designers Association of Australia Design Awards.
Projects are judged in a range of categories, including:
• Residential
• Residential Alterations and Additions
• Multi-residential Buildings
• Commercial / Industrial
• Non Residential Alterations and Additions
• Environmental & Energy Efficient Design
• Special Projects
• Best Interiors |

All entries are judged on an array of criteria including:
Satisfaction of the brief, interior and exterior aesthetics, indoor and outdoor spaces, natural lighting, design for climate and energy efficiency and appropriateness of construction.
As part of the development of education and training standards relevant to the building design profession the BDA also presents a student design award for a set assignment in the TAFE design and drafting course.
